Jesus, they're working together!
Seeds of Peace (SOP) Madison is an ecumenical collaboration of eight east-side and Monona churches who are working together to alleviate suffering, injustice, and poverty in our communities. SOP partners with three area elementary schools to provide weekend take-home meals for students who receive free lunch during the school week. Far too many area families experience significant food insecurities. Over 300 kids benefit each week from these programs at Henry Schenk Elementary, Frank Allis Elementary, and Nuestro Mundo Community School. Other programs that SOP supports are the Atwood Personal Essetioanls Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross Blood Drives, School Passport Fairs, and St. Stephens Food Pantry. Participating churches include Monona United Methodist, St. Stephens Lutheran, Zion Faith Community, Plymouth UCC, Lake Edge UCC, St. Luke's Episcopal, Lake Edge Lutheran, and Lakeview Moravian Community Church.
Urgent request from the Schenk School Community
Our Seeds of Peace Churches are continuing to support Schenk Elementary School through the school adoption partnership. Many of our Schenk families are facing the most difficult and devastating times of their lives. Some are having to seek community resources for the first time ever, and others are barely able to make ends meet. Another need in this time of staying safer at home are cleaning supplies. These can be expensive in a monthly budget that is already stretched thin.
The School Adoption Partnership Committee would like to help Schenk families with this ongoing need. From now until February 12, we hope that Seeds of Peace congregations will collect basic cleaning supplies like the following items to be delivered to Schenk. Please bring your donations to the church and put them in the Schenk bin in front of the church office. Thank you for your generosity.
