Help us welcome Rev. Dr. Yohan Hong and his family to Madison with a cookie table! We'll be joining in fellowship after our 10 am service. If you are able, we'd LOVE for you to take part. Please read the below letter from the Accountable Leadership Board and what they are looking for help with.
The Accountable Leadership Board recently heard of a newer tradition that began at weddings in Pittsburgh, PA, and has begun to spread to other parts of the country. To celebrate the happy couple, rather than
ordering a cake, family and friends contributed to a cookie table where guests brought two dozen of their favorite, festive cookies to display and enjoy at the reception.
We would like to suggest that we create a ‘cookie table’ on Sunday, July 14 to welcome our new pastor, Pastor Yohan Hong, to Monona UMC. We will enjoy these sweet treats in the Fellowship Hall after the service.
If baking is one of your gifts, please choose one of your favorite cookie or bar recipes and bake up two dozen of them to grace this table. (Some folks have mentioned that this idea reminds them of an English tea party.) We know that Methodists excel at lovely and delicious food.
If you can bring these treats, please contact LeeAnn Sinclair at 260 602-3750.
Please deliver the cookies/bars to the church by 9:00 AM on Sunday morning July 14. You can also drop off baked goods earlier in the week at the church kitchen no later than 1:45 in the afternoons. Please be sure that they are carefully covered so that they can be stored on the counter, or refrigerated, or frozen, depending upon when you deliver them.
Thank you for being willing to try out a new idea. Perhaps a cookie table will become a ‘special occasion’ tradition for us.
